General Gas Mask Filter Cartridge Information
- Most masks use the standard NATO 40mm threaded gas filters (some MSA masks use proprietary filters)
- All new filters hold an NBC rating (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) in addition to CBA/RCA (Chemical Blowing and Riot Control Agent) ratings. A few specialty filters are catered only for specific agents or uses.
- Time in use varies greatly ont he gas and concentrations but eight (8) hours is conservative in most civilian applications
